Level Architecture// Back 4 Blood: Finleyville missions

I hope you enjoy this selection from my Level Architecture pass for the Finleyville missions. These are a series of 'public' buildings consisting of a library for Act 1 - Book Worms, and a city hall and annex building for Act 2 - A Call to Arms. Finleyville is a small city on the outskirts of the hypothetical city of 'Evansburgh' in Pennsylvania, USA. Our three main building biomes are commercial, industrial and residential that are inspired by Pennsylvania's existing cities, towns and rural/vernacular architecture. I like to show the designer blockouts I started with and then the images of the style guide/proxies that were the result of a close collaboration with our talented Design and Art teams. I do my 3D modeling and design work in SketchUp, and export the geometry out as a FBX to import into Unreal Engine to quickly create proxy static meshes per our Environment Gameplay Standards that I established for this game with Design. Some early blockout questions to solve with Design are that building entries, corridors and room layouts seem logical and we begin to 'name' them, elevator locations stack on top of each other, stair layouts respond to how you enter and exit a building, structural spans and spacing seem of this world, etc. There are many architectural design considerations I am processing as we start to resolve each building from it's foundation to its roofing.
